Alex

Alex graduated university in 2010 and has since worked in both private and corporate environments. Since 2016 Alex has worked as an MSK physiotherapist in the UK. During this time she has worked in a variety of different settings including MSK outpatients. Alex is registered with the HCPC, CSP and AACP. Along side physiotherapy Alex is also qualified in level 1&2 pilates with APPI.

Alex bases her practice around the bio-psycho-social model to ensure she is offering every patient the most effective treatment to get them on the road to a fully functional, active lifestyle.

Alex will be offering a variety of treatments at Evolve Injury clinic, including, Deep Oscillation, Electro-Acupcunture, and Radial Shockwave treatment. During a physiotherapy session, the above therapies can be used and combined at no additional cost for the patient. Alex will be offering the following treatments at the clinic

Deep Oscillation (DO)

Deep oscillation creates a pulsed electrostatic field which is built up in the client’s body. The client with feel a gentle, pleasant, deep relaxing vibration in the tissue. This treatment can be used for a variety of ailments including:

• Arthritis
• Edema reduction
• Muscle relaxation
• Acute and chronic pain relief
• Reduction of inflammation
• Scar tissue and deep tissue healing

Electro-Acupuncture (EA)

Is the electrical stimulation of acupoints through acupuncture needles. The human body is both electrical as well as biochemical. No process in the body occurs without electricity. Heart and brain generate the strongest electrical signals in the body. Electricity is natural and is another tool which we can use to help promoting healing of the body. Sometimes, when manual acupuncture doesn't provide the desired effect, we can use EA because allows stronger and more continuous stimulation. Electro-acupucnture can be used to treat a variety of issues including:

• Arthritis
• Frozen shoulder
• Acute and chronic pain
• Scar tissue

It can also help with:

• Stress
• Anxiety
• Improve sleep quality

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy uses a specialist device to administer acoustic energy through the skin to the injured area. The shockwaves are mechanical and not electric. They are audible, low-energy sound waves, which increase the blood flow to the injured area.

Shockwave therapy has two main modes of action which will help with persistent tendon pain. First the shockwaves work to desensitise nerve endings which can result in an immediate reduction in pain. The second action is to create controlled micro-trauma to the injured tissues which encourage the body to increase circulation to the area. This in turn accelerates the body’s healing process. The shockwave can also break down calcifications and disorganised tissues.
